Masters In Writing Fails To Create Master Of Writing
PALO ALTO, CA—Despite completing all the requirements for a Masters of Fine Arts in creative writing from Stanford University in January, Jeremy Craig Kessler somehow failed to become a master of creative writing, sources reported Monday. "Mr. Kessler's short stories, all written in the style of T.C. Boyle, show little more than excellence in spelling and grammar," said literary agent David Conrad. "Somehow, Kessler advanced to the very highest level of the academic program and has only an average body of work to show for it." Photocopies of Kessler's short-story collection can be purchased at jckessler.com.
school is bearing its weight on my head... as manifest by my repeated assertions that I have to "buckle-down" I hope that after school, I will only have to buckle down when it comes to physical-defense, aid-to-others, or child-raising... otherwise it seems like the destruction of the artistic/creative spirits. blah. (maybe not)
Anyways, check out..

these Paradise Engineers
You know you're at Stanford when in a mid-level, undergrad, engineering course, the teacher asks, "has anybody read Flatland?" and half the class rumbles in affirmation.
Here's how the quarter-system at Stanford works. The first week is really hard because I don't have any study buddies and/or the material looks new, and therefore is intimidating (plus contrast with summer of no work no nothing).
I am back at school and am taking the following classes:
- Basic economics
- Engineering: Intro to optimization
- Abstract Math
In general, I don't like to use my blog for whining, but I had written this in an e-mail already so anyways... keep reading if you want to hear a Stanford-bash.
3 years into my major, I quit Stanford in January of 2003. After journeys into the desert and London, I then rejoined for summer school. Only to quit again 6 weeks ago. After more journeys, this time more Oneiric in nature, I am back at Stanford, finishing up. Should be graduating on time at the end of Spring in 2004. How did all of this nonsense happen? More to follow.
